Today's Students, Tomorrow's Scientists

Corner

When the doors of your school close for the summer, our doors open welcoming 25 enthusiastic high school and college juniors for Roswell Park’s Summer Research Program. This full-time, summer-long program provides hands-on experience for those interested in molecular biology, biophysics, genetics, bioinformatics, nanotechnology, biochemistry, immunology or pharmacology.

Students attend seminars taught by Roswell faculty and participate in research designed to educate and develop active participation in cancer research. This competitive program, which runs from June through August, is available for students who have just completed their junior year.

Participants will formulate research questions, perform experiments, collect data and receive daily mentoring from scientists. Once a week, students also attend class lectures and receive information on modern cancer issues and career advisement. At the conclusion of the program, they present their findings to doctors, teachers and colleagues in a poster-session fashioned after national scientific conferences. Past participants have even been entered into national competitions because of their excellent research work at Roswell Park!
