Go Bald for Bucks!

Corner

Register your school today to participate in Goin’ Bald for Bucks 2011—a benefit for cancer research and patient care programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Last year, more than 31 schools raised over $200,000 to help save lives. This year our goal is $250,000, and we need your school’s support to make it happen!

What’s it all about? Students shave their heads or cut at least 10 inches of hair off in return for pledges benefiting cancer research. It’s that simple.

How it got started. Tony George, a history teacher at Lake Shore High School, offered to shave his head in 2002 as a show of solidarity and compassion for his sister as she battled breast cancer for the third time. His students offered to raise funds and participate in the shaving - with $3,000 raised the first year - and a fundraiser was born! Since then, dozens of individuals, schools, and organizations from across the country have hosted Goin’ Bald events to raise funds for Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
